# Paper and poster sizes UK: A0 to A6 in cm, mm, inches and pixels

**The short answer:** **A4 is 21 × 29.7 cm**, **A3 is 29.7 × 42 cm**, **A2 is 42 × 59.4 cm** and **A1 is 59.4 × 84.1 cm**. Each A size is exactly half of the size above it, so two A4 sheets make an A3 and two A3 sheets make an A2. For a sharp print, the file needs about 300 pixels per inch (300 dpi). The pixel sizes are in the table below.

A sizes follow the ISO 216 standard, used in the UK, Europe and most of the world. The US and Canada mostly use inch sizes instead (see below).

## Which poster size should I choose?

## How to get a sharp print

1. **Use 300 dpi** for anything seen up close (cards, A4, A3). Posters seen from a distance still look good at 150 dpi.
2. **Export a PDF** if you can. Text and lines stay crisp at any size. In Canva, choose Download → **PDF Print**.
3. **Keep text away from the edges**, at least 5 mm in, so nothing is trimmed off.
4. **Check before you pay.** Our upload shows your file at real size and warns you if the image is too small for the size you picked.

**What size is A2 in cm?**
A2 is 42 × 59.4 cm (420 × 594 mm), or 16.5 × 23.4 inches. For a sharp print at 300 dpi, the file should be about 4961 × 7016 pixels.

**What size is an A1 poster?**
A1 is 59.4 × 84.1 cm (594 × 841 mm), or 23.4 × 33.1 inches. It is twice the size of A2 and is common for large event and display posters.

**What size is A6 paper?**
A6 is 10.5 × 14.8 cm (105 × 148 mm), or 4.1 × 5.8 inches, the size of a standard postcard. It is a common size for flyers, small invitations and RSVP cards.

**What size is A4 in cm and inches?**
A4 is 21 × 29.7 cm (210 × 297 mm), or 8.3 × 11.7 inches. It is the standard UK paper size for letters and documents. At 300 dpi an A4 print needs about 2480 × 3508 pixels.

**What size is A3 compared with A4?**
A3 is 29.7 × 42 cm, exactly twice the area of A4. Two A4 sheets side by side make one A3 sheet.

**What is the standard UK wedding invitation size?**
The most common sizes are 7 × 5 inches (178 × 127 mm), A5 (148 × 210 mm) and A6 (105 × 148 mm). Square 6 × 6 inch cards are popular too. In the US the standard is 5 × 7 inches.

**How many pixels do I need to print a poster?**
