How to print from Canva: at home, with Canva Print, or with another printer (UK)

Three ways to print a Canva design, the exact download settings that keep it sharp (PDF Print, bleed, crop marks), and when ordering from another printer is cheaper or more flexible than Canva's own print service.

  1. 1Step 1: download your Canva design the right way
  2. 2Way 1: print a Canva design at home
  3. 3Way 2: order through Canva's print service
  4. 4Way 3: upload your Canva PDF to another printer
  5. 5Common Canva printing problems

The short answer: in Canva, click Share → Download → PDF Print. Then print the PDF at home, order through Canva's own print service, or upload the PDF to another printer. For invitations, cards and flyers, tick Crop marks and bleed so the colour goes right to the edge after trimming. At InviteBatch you upload the Canva PDF, see the delivered price, and we print and post it from 1 copy: 20 square invitations with envelopes are $25.44 delivered in the UK.

Print your Canva design, delivered

Upload the PDF Print file. It appears at real size with the trim line, we flag anything too close to the edge, and you see the delivered price before you pay. From 1 copy.

Step 1: download your Canva design the right way

  1. Open the design and click Share (top right).
  2. Click Download.
  3. Under file type, choose PDF Print. It keeps text and shapes sharp at any size.
  4. For cards, invitations and flyers, tick Crop marks and bleed.
  5. If you have several pages (for example a front and a back), keep them all in one PDF.
  6. Click Download.

While you design: turn on File → Settings → Show print bleed. Stretch background colours and photos to the outer dotted line, and keep text inside the inner safe line.

What you're printing Canva file type Bleed
Invitations, cards, flyers PDF Print Yes, crop marks and bleed
Posters, A4/A3/A2 prints PDF Print (or PNG) Only if the colour goes to the edge

Way 1: print a Canva design at home

Open the PDF and print at 100% / Actual size, not "Fit to page", or the size will be wrong. Use card stock your printer can feed (check its maximum gsm), then trim along the crop marks with a craft knife and ruler.

Good for: a few cards today. Downsides: thin card, ink cost, and many home printers can't print to the edge, so you get a white border. See our guide to printing invitations at home.

Way 2: order through Canva's print service

Canva sells printed products (cards, invitations, flyers, posters and more) in many countries, including the UK. You order from inside the editor. It's convenient if your design already uses one of Canva's print sizes. Check the price for your quantity and the delivery estimate at checkout.

Way 3: upload your Canva PDF to another printer

Any printer that accepts PDFs can print a Canva design. Choose this when you want a size or card Canva doesn't offer, just a few copies, or a clearer delivered price. At InviteBatch:

  1. Download PDF Print from Canva (as above).
  2. Upload it. It appears on a real-size card or sheet with the trim line.
  3. Pick the size, how many and the card (and envelopes if you want).
  4. Pay. We print in 1–3 working days and post it to the UK, US, Canada or 13 EU countries.
Order (UK, delivered, VAT included) Price
20 square invitations with envelopes $25.44
20 × 6×4″ invitations with envelopes $32.43
20 × 7×5″ matte invitations with envelopes $48.41
1 A4 print $19.83
1 A3 poster $26.02

Common Canva printing problems

  • Wrong size or white border: print at 100%, and set the Canva design to the exact card size (7×5 inches for a 7×5 card).
  • Text cut off after trimming: move it inside the safe line, at least 5 mm from the edge.
  • Blurry photo: the image is too small for the print size. Use a larger photo. For A3 you need about 3508 × 4961 pixels (see paper and poster sizes).
  • Colours look duller on paper: screens glow and paper doesn't. Avoid very bright neon colours and very dark photos.

Questions, answered

How do I print from Canva?

Open your design, click Share, then Download, and choose PDF Print. Print that file at home, order prints through Canva's own print service, or upload the PDF to another printer. At InviteBatch you upload it, see the delivered price, and we print and post it from 1 copy.

Can I print directly from Canva?

Canva doesn't send designs to your home printer by itself. You download the design as a PDF and print it from your computer. Canva does sell printed products through its own print service in many countries, including the UK.

What is the best Canva download setting for printing?

PDF Print. For anything that is printed and trimmed, such as invitations, cards or flyers, tick Crop marks and bleed, and turn on View settings → Show print bleed while you design so the background reaches past the edge.

Why is my Canva design not printing at the correct size?

Usually the printer is scaling the page. Print at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page, and make sure the design size in Canva matches the paper or card you are printing on. A 7×5 inch invitation should be set up as 7×5 inches in Canva.

Can I upload a Canva design to another printer?

Yes. Download it as a PDF Print (or a PNG) and upload it to any printer. At InviteBatch, 20 square invitations with envelopes cost $25.44 and one A4 print costs $19.83, delivered in the UK.

How long does Canva printing take to deliver?

It depends on the product and where you live, and Canva shows the estimate at checkout. At InviteBatch we print in 1–3 working days, then post by the delivery you choose, including a tracked next-day courier ($18.91).
